BRATISLAVA (SITA) - Slovak Premier Vladimír Mečiar has taken the series of foreign concerns to the address of Slovakia that culminated by the resolution of the European Parliament (EP) "easy. These are not the first and not quite the last reactions," Mečiar aired in his regular Friday Slovak Radio address. The Slovak Premier was shocked that none of the complaining organizations have turned to the Slovak Cabinet asking for explanation. According to him, the EP while constructing its resolution built on "information disseminated by a certain embassy of an European Union country." Mečiar also claimed that no EP deputy can force him by his/her resolutions to violate the Slovak constitution. At the same time, he said the EP is the first organization that pushes for imprisoning people. Mečiar, once again, explained he only wanted to spare city mayors, opposition members and referendum commission members from ending up in the jail. Mečiar also told his listeners that Slovakia will be forced to go back to the International Court of Justice, the Hague, to advocate Slovakia's reimbursement for damages it suffered. Mečiar already told his Hungarian Counterpart Gyula Horn about this in London. Mečiar also accused the Hungarian Cabinet that is refuses to fulfill its obligations using a "made up argument." Mečiar also touched on the last-week visit of Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Council of European and European Commission experts for national minority rights to Slovakia. He informed "the European Commission demanded adopting a law on national minority language use from Slovakia. We said all right. But now we say show us where you have such a law in your countries and we will simply copy it." Mečiar listed all the "benefits" the Slovak Cabinet has prepared for minorities. However, he warned that most of the Gypsies try to conceal their origin and they identify with the Hungarian minority and that is why the Gypsy minority is the greatest in Slovakia not the Hungarian.
