BRATISLAVA (SITA) -- Several dozen people, mostly skinheads, gathered at Bratislava's Hodzove square on Saturday to greet the 59th anniversary of installing the war-time first Slovak state. The Society of Jozef Tiso and the Slovak National Unity were the organizers of the event that was held under increased police presence. In her speech, anchor at the event Eva Balková sharply criticized representatives of the government, the ruling coalition as well as the opposition. She appealed to "the nation to drive out puppets of the Slovak political stage" as Jesus Christ forced out merchants from the Temple. Slovak National Unity chairman Stanislav Pánis brought up the approaching parliamentary elections and warned about the danger presented by former communists who infiltrated into all political parties in Slovakia. While he said it is shameless that an orthodox Communist and former chairman of the Slovak National Council R. Schuster wants to return to power. Concluding the "national celebrations" the attendants adopted a memorandum, in which they appeal to the Parliament to acknowledge March 14th a national holiday.
