ng. On Sunday morning, in Cadca (northern Slovakia) a man collecting signatures at the Freedom Square was attacked. The police is investigating the case and it already knows the perpetrator, Vladimír Palko, the petition committee spokesman told SITA. The petition committee turns to the citizens not to give in to threatening attacks and not to let anybody to seize their petition right guaranteed in the Slovak Constitution. So far the petition embraces 10,000 signatures from all over Slovakia. The initiators of the petition are the Slovak Democratic Coalition (SDK) and the Hungarian Coalition (MK), the two main opposition groupings on the Slovak political stage. As Bela Bugar, chair of the MKDH, a member of the MK told SITA that they will make every effort to collect more than 500,000 signatures. Parliamentary rules of order stipulate that 100,000 signatures are sufficient to require deputies to deal with the issue.
