The Party of the Democratic Left`s Ľubomír Fogaš said that during their talks, they paid special attention to the proposed provision that eliminates persons detained by the police from the elections and powers of the central election committee and its relation towards the Interior Ministry. They also reviewed media participation in the pre-election campaign and the possibilities for shaping mechanisms to let observers from Slovak non-governmental organizations monitor the elections. Fogaš said the OSCE experts came to get a certain insight into the development of parliamentary elections and not to impose concrete demands on Slovakia. He also expressed his belief that the final version of the elect ion law will be modified a great deal, which could be evidence of coalition deputies constructive approach. Slovak Foreign Minister Zdenka Kramplová also received Gerard Stoudmann, who is paying a two-day visit to Slovakia at the invitation of the Slovak Parliament.
