SANTA MONICA, Calif. (Reuters) - Former "Charlie`s Angels" actress Farrah Fawcett sobbed in court on Tuesday as she described how her boyfriend beat her head on the ground during a quarrel. "He caught me and we struggled and I ended up on the ground," Fawcett, 52, said at the battery trial of director-producer James Orr, 44. "I don`t remember much of the struggling except for trying to get up," the actress went on, her voice choking. "He ended up hitting my head on the asphalt." Fawcett, who once had a critically-acclaimed performance as a battered wife in the TV movie "The Burning Bed," then broke down in
tears in the Santa Monica courtroom. Orr, who directed Fawcett in the 1995 movie "Man of the House" and began dating her after she broke up with long-time lover actor Ryan O`Neal, is charged with misdemeanor battery. He has pleaded innocent. The charge stems from an argument the couple had last January, which began in a restaurant and continued at Orr`s home. Fawcett said she stormed outside to her car and Orr slammed the door shut. But when she kicked in one of the windows by the door, Orr came out and slammed her head onto the driveway. Asked why she had broken the window, Fawcett said it was because Orr had abused her verbally, using an obscene expression. She also acknowledged using a baseball bat previously to break some windows at Orr`s home. After the incident, the couple issued a joint statement saying they were good friends who "had a misunderstanding". Orr was expected to take the stand on Wednesday.
