DUBLIN – A knife-wielding robber gave himself away by lifting his mask to greet passers-by as he went to raid a shop next door to his childhood home, Irish newspapers reported. Displaying what his defence lawyer called a „sheer lack of criminal professionalism“ Paul Fulham lifted his stocking mask to reveal his face to people he recognised, and was so drunk he couldn‘t find his way out of the shop after the bungled raid. „He was going through Christmas in an alcoholic haze and went to the only shop in town where he was sure to be recognised as he had lived nearby all his life,“ defence lawyer Finian Brannigan was quoted as saying. „He said hello to people he knew and was falling about all over the place and then couldn‘t get out of the door of the shop.“ The incident took place in Drogheda, north of Dublin, on December 28 last year. Fulham, 23, was jailed for a year at Drogheda District Court, the Irish Mirror reported.
